"The High Window" is also known as The Brasher Doubloon. Private detective Philip Marlowe investigates the case of a stolen Brasher gold doubloon, which turns out to be more than just a simple "find and return" job, leading to a series of bloody crimes. Awarded as one of the "Crime and Mystery: The 100 Best Books" in 1987, it is considered one of the top rankings in the world of English-language detective literature. This novel has been adapted into films such as "Time to Kill" (1942) and "The Brasher Doubloon" (1947).
