Jonathan Livingston Seagull, a fable in novella form by Richard Bach, follows a seagull on a journey of self-discovery and mastery of flight. Originally published as short stories in Flying magazine, the book was released in 1970 and quickly became a bestseller, staying at the top of the New York Times Best Seller list for 37 weeks. The book's popularity led to a condensed version by Reader's Digest and top rankings on Publishers Weekly's list of bestselling novels in the United States. In 2014, a complete edition was released with an additional fourth part to the story.
